If I thought I had butterflies yesterday, it’s nothing compared
to what I have today. I think World War 3 is taking place in my belly. Forty-eight
hours and counting . . .
There was a virtual card in my inbox when I logged on this
morning from my friend, writer and speaker, Laurie Schnebly Campbell. It reminded
me that so often we have friends, loved ones, and even strangers sending us
good wishes and prayers and we don’t even know it, but what a delight when we
do. Another friend Jenn Schilling
told me she wouldn’t be at the race, but she’d send her ‘mojo.’ Coming from
Jenn, marathoner extraordinaire, I couldn’t ask for more.
“Team Kathy” will be at the finish line, snapping pictures and
shouting with joy. My sister, Mimi Lowry Beckes, has read every version of THE RUBY BROOCH, even the first one that will never see the light of day. Her
husband Ned will have the video camera going. Look for a YouTube video later in
the day!
My friends John Witt, Donna Farmer, and Connie
Lester will be shouting “Thank you, Father.” And Ken Muse, the precious man who
has stolen my heart, and who will worry for three hours that I’ve fallen into a
ditch somewhere, will wrap a very sweaty runner in a bear hug and give me the
biggest kiss I’ve ever had.
The vision of those six people standing at that line waiting
will see me through the last 3.1 miles. I am one lucky girl.
After the hugs, pictures and food, I’m off to a meeting of the
Kentucky Indie Writers.
I’ll have dozens of last minute questions before I click send and release THE
RUBY BROOCH on Smashwords.
What a day! And then of course, Kentucky and Louisville play at
6:00 PM.
After a good night’s sleep, I’ll wake refreshed and ready to
start training for the Iron Horse Half Marathon, where I hope to set a
PR, and the release of THE LAST MACKLENNA. At least I won’t be a “newbie” any
longer.
Happy writing and running, Kathy
